Feeling tired often

Tiredness with no clear reason

Feeling tired often

Tiredness has many possible causes, and a lab test does not always find one. When a doctor is looking into it, they sometimes check for things like low iron or anaemia, thyroid or blood-sugar problems, and low vitamin levels. These tests don't diagnose anything on their own, and this isn't a recommendation to take any of them — a doctor decides which are relevant for you.

CBC (Complete Blood Count)

A group of blood tests that measure the number and size of the different cells in your blood.

Thyroid Profile (T3, T4, TSH)

Blood tests that check how well your thyroid gland is working by measuring thyroid hormones and the hormone that controls them.

HbA1c

A blood test that shows your average blood glucose level over the past two to three months.

Vitamin D

A blood test that checks the level of vitamin D in your blood.

Vitamin B12

A blood test that measures how much vitamin B12 is in your blood.

Fasting Blood Sugar (Glucose)

A blood test that measures the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood after you have not eaten for several hours.

Iron Studies

Blood tests that check the levels of iron in your body.

Ferritin Test

A blood test that measures ferritin, a protein that binds to iron and stores it in your body.

Speak with your doctor

Tiredness that lasts, or comes with other symptoms such as breathlessness, dizziness, fever or weight loss, is worth discussing with a doctor.
