Digestive concerns
Tests that look at the liver, pancreas and gut
Digestive concerns
Doctors may use blood tests for the liver and pancreas, or a stool test for hidden blood, when they are looking into digestive symptoms. These tests don't diagnose anything on their own, and this isn't a recommendation to take any of them — a doctor decides which are relevant for you.
CBC (Complete Blood Count)
A group of blood tests that measure the number and size of the different cells in your blood.
Liver Function Test (LFT)
A group of blood tests that measure substances made by your liver.
Amylase and Lipase Tests
Blood tests that measure amylase and lipase, digestive enzymes made mainly in the pancreas.
Stool Occult Blood Test
A test that checks a stool sample for hidden (“occult”) blood — blood you cannot see just by looking — which can mean there is bleeding somewhere in the digestive tract.
Speak with your doctor
Persistent belly pain, blood in the stool, black stools, vomiting or unexplained weight loss should be seen by a doctor promptly.
