Tests that look at blood glucose
Blood sugar & diabetes
Doctors use blood glucose tests to screen for and monitor prediabetes and diabetes, and some related tests to look at insulin and cholesterol. These tests don't diagnose anything on their own, and this isn't a recommendation to take any of them — a doctor decides which are relevant for you.
HbA1c
A blood test that shows your average blood glucose level over the past two to three months.
Lipid Profile (Cholesterol)
A blood test that measures the fats in your blood, used to assess your risk of heart disease.
Fasting Blood Sugar (Glucose)
A blood test that measures the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood after you have not eaten for several hours.
Kidney Function Test (KFT)
A group of tests used to evaluate how well the kidneys are working.
Fasting Insulin Test
A blood test that measures insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas that moves glucose (sugar) from your blood into your cells.
Speak with your doctor
Excessive thirst, frequent urination or unexplained weight loss are worth discussing with a doctor. If you already have diabetes, follow your doctor's plan for testing.
