Kidney

Tests that look at kidney function

Kidney

Kidney function tests measure waste products and salts in the blood, and a urine test can show what the kidneys pass out. Doctors may also check uric acid. These tests don't diagnose anything on their own, and this isn't a recommendation to take any of them — a doctor decides which are relevant for you.

Kidney Function Test (KFT)

A group of tests used to evaluate how well the kidneys are working.

Urine Routine (Urinalysis)

A test of your urine.

Electrolytes

A blood test, often called an electrolyte panel, that measures minerals that help balance water and acid–base levels in your body.

Uric Acid Test

A test that measures uric acid — a waste product the body makes when it breaks down chemicals called purines — in a sample of blood (or urine).

Speak with your doctor

Swelling of the legs or face, changes in urination or blood in the urine are worth discussing with a doctor.
